Bismuth based catalysts –
Our products

Bismuth catalysts from TIB Chemicals are characterized by their high activity and selectivity. They are often used in polymerization, in the production of paints and coatings and in fine chemistry. The catalysts enable precise control of reaction conditions, contributing to higher yields and fewer byproducts. These properties are particularly important for the production of high-quality products that must meet strict quality requirements.

 

Another advantage of our bismuth catalysts is their environmental compatibility. Unlike many traditional catalysts, bismuth compounds do not contain lead or other toxic heavy metals, supporting their use in environmentally conscious processes. This is particularly relevant for industries that need to adhere to stricter environmental regulations or want to improve their environmental footprint.

 

Our bismuth catalysts are available in various formulations including bismuth neodecanoate, bismuth 2-ethylhexanoate, (bismuth octoate) and bismuth oxide. These catalysts can be supplied in different forms such as powder blends and aqueous solutions to meet the specific requirements of our customers. This flexibility enables bismuth-based catalysts to be seamlessly integrated into existing production processes and to maximize their efficiency.

 

The liquid bismuth neodecanoate catalysts are suitable as a replacement for DBTL in certain polyurethane systems for automotive, industrial or car refinishing systems as well as a catalyst for PUR prepolymers and elastomer formulations. Typical concentrations are between 0.01 – 0.1% by weight. Bismuth neodecanoate can be dissolved in common solvents and added pure or dissolved to the polyurethane systems or the reactants. It is recommended to carefully test the stability of the solution. Special tin-free mixtures are ideal for hardening reactions at elevated temperatures or as hardeners in 2K PU systems.
