TIB STAN S72 – Highly concentrated stannous chloride dihydrate solution for reduction and esterification

TIB STAN S72 (SnCl₂·2H₂O) is a high-metal, inorganic stannous tin catalyst and part of the liquid grade product line based on the solid product TIB KAT 154. TIB KAT 154 is produced from high-purity tin to maximize the Sn(II) content.

TIB STAN S72 contains approx. 72% TIB KAT 154 and 38% active stannous tin. Other liquid variants include TIB STAN S45, TIB STAN S50, and TIB STAN S25.

TIB STAN S72 is registered on numerous international regulatory lists and is ideal for global formulation development.

• Glass industry (silver mirrors, color modification)

As a powerful reducing agent, TIB STAN S72 has a wide range of applications, e.g., in the reduction of silver for mirror coatings or the reduction of iron in oil/gas stimulation processes. It is also used in industrial water treatment to reduce or precipitate toxic metal ions.

Its high reactivity is based on its very high Sn(II) content, which enables efficient electron transfer. Differences between the liquid STAN grades result primarily from their tin content, which determines their reduction performance.
