TIB STAN S45 – Stannous Chloride Dihydrate Solution for Reduction, Esterification & Surface Finishing

TIB STAN S45 (SnCl₂·2H₂O) is a high-metal, inorganic stannous tin catalyst and part of the liquid product family based on the solid grade TIB KAT 154. TIB KAT 154 is produced from high-purity tin to maximize the Sn(II) content and minimize Sn(IV).

TIB STAN S45 is a stable liquid formulation containing approx. 45% TIB KAT 154 and 23% active stannous tin. Other liquid variants include TIB STAN S25, TIB STAN S72, and TIB STAN S50.

TIB STAN S45 is listed on numerous international regulatory inventories and is therefore ideal for multinational formulation developments.

Typical applications include:

• Esterifications
• Personal care products
• Surface finishing / electroplating
• Oil well simulation (acidizing additive)
• Corrosion inhibitors
• Glass coating (silver mirrors, color modification)

As a reducing agent, TIB STAN S45 has a particularly broad range of effectiveness—e.g., for the reduction of silver (mirror production) or iron (oil/gas stimulation processes). In water treatment, it is used to reduce or bind toxic metal ions.

Its strong reducing power is based on its high Sn(II) content, making TIB STAN S45 an ideal additive for processes in which metal contaminants must be removed or reduced. Differences between the liquid STAN grades result primarily from their varying tin content.
