TIB STAN S25 – Stannous Chloride Dihydrate Solution for Reduction, Esterification & Surface Finishing

TIB STAN S25 (SnCl₂·2H₂O) is a high-metal-content, inorganic tin(II) catalyst that belongs to our family of liquid variants of the solid product TIB KAT 154. TIB KAT 154 is produced from high-purity tin with maximized Sn(II) and minimal Sn(IV) content.

TIB STAN S25 is a stable liquid formulation containing approx. 25% TIB KAT 154 and 12% active stannous tin. Other liquid variants include TIB STAN S45, TIB STAN S72, and TIB STAN S50.

TIB STAN S25 is registered on a number of international regulatory lists, making it ideal for multinational formulation developments.

Typical applications include:

  • Oil well simulation (acidizing additives)
  • Corrosion inhibitors
  • Glass industry (silver mirrors, color modification)

As a reducing agent, TIB STAN S25 has a particularly wide range of applications, e.g., for the reduction of silver in mirror coatings or for the reduction of iron in oil and gas stimulation processes. It is also relevant for use in industrial water treatment, where toxic metal ions must be reduced or removed.

The main reactivity of TIB STAN S25 is based on its high Sn(II) content, which enables efficient electron transfer. Differences between the various STAN liquid grades are primarily based on their tin content.
