TIB KAT 616 – Zinc neodecanoate for polyurethane systems

TIB KAT 616 is a widely used zinc catalyst for polyurethane applications. The use of neodecanoic acid as a ligand makes it highly compatible with numerous PU formulations. A related catalyst is TIB KAT 620, a zinc carboxylate based on an octanoic acid ligand.

Compared to organotin catalysts, TIB KAT 616 exhibits lower activity, which leads to extended pot life in 2-component systems. The formulation with an aliphatic hydrocarbon also gives it lower viscosity than TIB KAT 617.

TIB KAT 616 is particularly suitable for curing at elevated temperatures and for systems based on aromatic isocyanates. Compared to TIB KAT 620, it offers higher reactivity and better color stability.

The recommended dosage is 0.02–1.0 wt%, based on the total formulation. TIB KAT 616 and its components are included in numerous international regulatory lists, including US TSCA, EU REACH, and Canadian DSL, making it ideal for multinational formulation development.

The product is also available in bismuth-zinc blends, e.g., TIB KAT 708, TIB KAT 715, or TIB KAT 718.
