TIB KAT 437 (dibutyltin oxide + silanes) is a liquid variant of dibutyltin oxide (DBTO) with silane additive.
It contains 50% active tin compared to the solid version TIB KAT 248 and is used as a homogeneous tin catalyst in a wide range of silicone applications, including:
- RTV adhesives and sealants (acetoxy, ethoxy, oxime-based)
- Silane-crosslinked polyethylene (PEX)
- Silane-modified polymers (SMP)
Properties:
- High reactivity thanks to liquid form and small ligands
- Catalyzes silanol/silane condensation reactions → polymerization & crosslinking
- Hydrolytically stable at typical humidity levels, but sensitive to high humidity
