TIB KAT 422 – Liquid dioctyltin oxide catalyst for silicone and silane systems
TIB KAT 422 is a liquid catalyst blend based on a dioctyltin oxide formulation. The product is primarily used for the curing of silicones and silane-terminated polymer systems.
TIB KAT 422 is particularly suitable for:
- 1-component MS/STP systems
- Curing of alkoxy-based RTV silicones
Properties & handling
Like other tin-based systems, TIB KAT 422 catalyzes the silanol/silane condensation reaction and thus acts as both a polymerization and crosslinking catalyst.
However, the product is sensitive to moisture:
- Minimize contact with moisture
- High humidity can lead to hydrolysis
- This results in lowering flash points
