TIB KAT 417 – Dioctyltin Oxide + Silanes (DOTO + Silanes) for Silicone & Silane Systems

TIB KAT 417 (Dioctyltin Oxide + Silanes, DOTO + TPOS) is a liquid variant of DOTO formulated with Tetrapropyl Ortho Silane (TPOS). The octyl-based organotin catalyst offers moderate reactivity, an improved toxicological profile, and is ideal for adhesive and sealant formulations where TPOS increases hydrolytic stability.

TIB KAT 417 is also listed on many international inventory lists and is therefore suitable for global formulation development.

TIB KAT 417 is used for the curing of:

  • 1-K-MS / STP systems
  • alkoxy-based RTV silicones (ideal in combination with TIB Stab 115)
  • oxime-based RTV silicones (also optimal with TIB Stab 115)
  • Silan crosslinking systems

Reactivity & Properties

Thanks to its high tin content, liquid form, and TPOS formulation, TIB KAT 417 offers:

  • Moderate, easily controllable reactivity in many silicone formulations
  • Reliable catalysis of silanol/silane condensation
  • Acts simultaneously as a polymerization and crosslinking catalyst
  • Improved hydrolytic stability in typical humidity ranges
  • Better stability than many butyl- or methyl-based organotin compounds (e.g., TIB KAT 437, TIB KAT 438)

Handling

TIB KAT 417 is sensitive to moisture:

  • Contact with moisture should be kept to a minimum
  • High humidity can lead to hydrolysis and lowering of the flash point
