TIB KAT 318 – Dioctyltin dineodecanoate for silicone, PU, and ester reactions

TIB KAT 318 is a versatile, homogeneous, octa-based organotin catalyst. The combination of octyl chains and neodecanoate ligands makes it one of the least toxic organotin catalysts and a suitable replacement for more heavily regulated dibutyltin products such as TIB KAT 218 (DBTL).

TIB KAT 318 can be used:

• for the condensation of silicones and silane-modified polymers, especially for RTV silicone resins (dosage up to 1% by weight)
• for esterification and transesterification reactions at 80–240°C (dosage 0.01–0.3% by weight)
• for the reaction of isocyanates with alcohols, especially in coatings
• improves pot life
• suitable for 1K and 2K PU formulations

Properties

• High tin content + neodecanoate ligand → broad formulation compatibility
• Liquid, highly soluble catalyst (miscible with organic solvents)
• Moisture sensitive
• Special formulations available on request
