TIB KAT 227
Product information
TIB KAT 227 (dibutyltin bis-(1-thioglycerol)) is a butyl-based organotin catalyst with additional functionality. Thanks to the thiol ligand, it offers the typical reactivity of an Sn(IV) organotin with improved delay and hydrolytic stability.
Applications:
- Mainly in polyurethane systems
- Ideal for adhesives, elastomers, and foam applications with sufficient exotherm
- Suitable for coatings in oven-cured systems, not for ambient cure
Properties:
- Controlled reactivity compared to standard metal carboxylates such as TIB KAT 218 and TIB KAT 300
- Sulfur ligand acts as a blocker → thermal deblocking required
- Minimal coloration at higher temperatures
- Not active in silicone or esterification applications
