TIB KAT 226 – Dibutyltin bis(acetylacetonate) for PU, silicone, and silane systems

TIB KAT 226, also known as dibutyl ketone, is a butyl-based Sn(IV) organotin catalyst with ketonate functionality. Due to its high tin content (26%) and small ligands, TIB KAT 226 is a highly reactive, liquid organotin.

Due to its ketonate-based ligands, TIB KAT 226 has lower hydrolytic stability than carboxylate-functionalized organotins such as TIB KAT 218 (dibutyltin dilaurate).

TIB KAT 226 is included on many international regulatory lists and is therefore well suited for global formulation development. However, it is listed on the ECHA list of substances of very high concern (SVHC). For EU applications, the octyl-based alternative TIB KAT 223 may therefore be more advantageous.

Areas of application (homogeneous catalyst)

  • Synthesis of polyurethane systems
  • Polycondensation of RTV silicone resins and silanes
  • 1-K-MS silyl systems

TIB KAT 226 is easily miscible with organic solvents, but sensitive to moisture. Special formulations are available on request.
