TIB KAT 223 – Dioctyltin bis(acetylacetonate) for PU, RTV, and MS silyl systems

TIB KAT 223 is an octyl-based organotin with ketonate functionality and serves as a highly reactive, liquid Sn(IV) catalyst. Due to its octyl-based structure, it has an improved toxicological profile and is a suitable alternative to TIB KAT 226.

TIB KAT 223 is used as a catalyst for:

  • 1-K MS silyl systems
  • Polyurethane syntheses
  • Polycondensation of RTV silicone resins
  • Crosslinking of silane-terminated polymers

Reactivity profile

Thanks to:

  • high tin content
  • small ligand
  • good raw material compatibility
  • its liquid form

TIB KAT 223 exhibits high reactivity in numerous silicone and PU formulations. Like other tin-based catalysts, it reliably catalyzes the silanol/silane condensation reaction and acts as:

  • A polymerization catalyst
  • A crosslinking catalyst

Hydrolytic stability

TIB KAT 223 is less hydrolytically stable to condensation-induced moisture than carboxylate organotin compounds.

For similar applications, TIB KAT 417 or TIB KAT 425 may be more suitable in terms of reactivity.
