TIB KAT 722
Product information
TIB KAT 722 – Bismuth Octoate Formulation for Polyurethane Applications
TIB KAT 722 is a commonly used metal-based bismuth catalyst for polyurethanes.
It is used in numerous applications, including coatings, adhesives and sealants, foams, plastics, and elastomers. In addition, TIB KAT 722 can be used in lubricant formulations. Due to its formulation with an aliphatic hydrocarbon, TIB KAT 722 has a lower viscosity compared to TIB KAT 728.
As a polyurethane catalyst, TIB KAT 722 offers good overall reactivity. A balanced curing profile with stable front-end/pot life and back-end/final cure is easily achievable due to the low bismuth content and large ligand. As with other bismuth catalysts, the final cure is significantly improved by added or exothermically generated heat.
The typical dosage is 0.01–0.1% by weight. TIB KAT 722 is hydrolytically stable under normal humidity conditions; however, stability decreases at higher humidity levels. In general, bismuth carboxylates have lower hydrolysis stability than organotin compounds.
