H2 Ready

TIB Chemicals and the PROTEGOL Coatings business Unit are proud to announce that a number of our Polyurethane and Epoxy based coatings are now H2-Ready ! After thorough 3rd party testing over a 3 month trial period, via the technical institute DVGW (hier DVGW @’en..falls sie einen Account haben), we can now say with confidence that our both our Polyurethane and Epoxy coatings have proved themselves suitable for external coatings of pipelines, transporting Hydrogen under elevated pressure.

 

In Summary, what tests were carried out ?

We investigated the influence of hydrogen under the pressure of 5 bar, both on our coating material itself and on the protection of the metal surface. We tested the mechanical integrity of the coating using impact tests and the physicochemical interaction with the substrate using adhesion tests. In both cases, no negative influence of hydrogen was detected within 12 weeks of testing. Test reports are of course available upon request, just get in touch !
