Sustainability is increasingly becoming a key competitive factor in the industry. In addition to product quality, innovation, and cost-effectiveness, customers, business partners, and other stakeholders now expect transparent evidence of companies’ environmental and social responsibility. For TIB Chemicals AG, sustainable business practices are therefore a central component of its corporate strategy and a key building block for long-term corporate success.

To make its own sustainability performance transparent and measurable, TIB Chemicals AG opted for an assessment by EcoVadis. EcoVadis is one of the world’s leading platforms for assessing sustainability, ESG criteria, and responsible business practices. Many international customers use these assessments as the basis for supplier evaluations and tenders. For numerous companies, a positive EcoVadis rating has even become a prerequisite for successful collaboration.

As part of the EcoVadis assessment, companies are analyzed using a standardized and comprehensive set of criteria. The four key areas evaluated are the environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. All information provided must be supported by reliable evidence and documentation to ensure an objective and comparable assessment.

Since early 2024, EcoVadis has significantly tightened the requirements for its awards. Whereas a minimum score was previously sufficient for the Bronze medal, companies must now achieve significantly better results compared to all assessed organizations. Despite these increased requirements, TIB Chemicals AG was not only able to maintain its score but also improve upon it: Instead of the previous Bronze award, the company received the EcoVadis Silver medal for the first time.

This places TIB Chemicals AG among the top 15 percent of all companies assessed by EcoVadis over the past twelve months. This outstanding result is the product of a cross-functional team effort and underscores the company’s long-term commitment to sustainable business practices and responsible corporate governance.

The improvement in the rating is based on numerous sustainability initiatives. For example, TIB Chemicals has joined the UN Global Compact and developed a comprehensive materiality analysis as well as a long-term sustainability strategy. Based on this, the company also published its first sustainability report.

Another important milestone was the calculation of the carbon footprint for the Mannheim site. This analysis forms the basis for future measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve energy efficiency. The new photovoltaic system (PV system), which is currently being installed at the company’s landfill site, will also make a significant contribution to future CO₂ reduction. Through investments in renewable energy, climate protection, and sustainable production processes, TIB Chemicals is consistently pursuing the goal of combining environmental responsibility with economic success.
