Commissioning of the more powerful turbine
Sustainable energy production at TIB Chemicals AG has reached another important milestone. Since June, the modernized power generation system at our sulfuric acid plant has been operating stably and efficiently. With the successful commissioning of a more powerful turbine, the plant’s energy efficiency has been significantly improved and its internal energy consumption has been sustainably reduced. This investment is another step on our path toward greater sustainability, energy efficiency, and a long-term reduction in our carbon footprint.
In May of this year, the new turbine was successfully installed and commissioned. This was followed by an intensive testing phase during which the plant control system was optimized and various performance and stress tests were conducted. Following the successful completion of these measures, the final acceptance of the system took place in June. Since then, the system has been operating reliably and actively contributing to a resource-efficient energy supply for our production processes.

The new turbine enables a significantly more effective use of the energy generated during the production process. In addition to generating electricity, it also powers the feedwater pump for the sulfuric acid plant. This intelligent use of existing resources reduces energy losses and makes processes more efficient. This not only improves the plant’s economic efficiency but also supports our sustainability strategy.
A particular success of the project is the potential annual CO₂ reduction of approximately 608 metric tons. This reduction makes an important contribution to the responsible use of resources and supports our company’s climate protection goals. The continuous optimization of our production facilities is one of the central pillars of our corporate strategy to combine environmental responsibility with economic performance.
