TIB KAT S 70 – Aqueous sulfosuccinic acid solution for highly effective esterification

TIB KAT S 70 is a clear, 70% aqueous solution of sulfosuccinic acid and is characterized by high thermal and oxidative stability. Its strong acidity combined with low molecular weight makes the product ideal as an esterification catalyst.

Applications & advantages

• Ideal for esterification of primary and secondary alcohols
• Typical application amount: 0.1%
• Can be used at 60–200°C
• Low volatility, does not evaporate from the reaction mixture – even under high vacuum at high temperatures
• Leads to colorless products with low acid numbers and short reaction times

TIB KAT S 70 can be completely removed from water-insoluble esters – via simple neutralization with saturated sodium hydrogen carbonate solution.
