TIB KAT S70

TIB KAT S70 is a 70% clear, aqueous solution of sulfosuccinic acid.

The product shows high stability against thermal and oxidative decomposition.

As a result of its high acidic strength combined with a low molecular weight, TIB KAT S70 is an excellent catalyst for esterification reactions.

For esterification reactions usually 0.1% TIB KAT S70 is used. It is applicable for the esterification of primary and secondary alcohols at temperatures between 60 and 200°C.

Due to its low volatility TIB KAT S70 does not distil from the reaction mixture, especially when vacuum is applied at high reaction temperatures.

Using TIB KAT S70 will lead to colourless products with low acid values after short reaction times.

TIB KAT S70 can be removed completely from water- insoluble esters by a neutralisation process with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution.
